Awkwafina started out as a American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled issues such as racial and sexual identity with a comedic twist. Before expanding into Hollywood the singer could perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the daughter of Chinese immigrants as well as Korean immigrants. Later, she began hip-hop and classical training. While in the school, she focused on women's studies and journalism. She was also a student of Mandarin for a while in Beijing. After graduating, she began to focus on music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef track and the eye-catching NYC Bitchethe hometown tour for $. The latter track was connected to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. The singer decided to make acting careers following the completion of her previous two ventures as a musician and author. Apart from the early television shows like Girl Code and Tawk, she's also appeared in movies like Neighbors2Storks, and Bad Rap.
